Quick Overview
Tour Plan
Welcome to Iceland! Upon arrival at Reykjavik International Airport, our tour guides will help you transfer to the hotel. Complete check-in formalities and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Today, you’ll begin your day with a half-day city tour. You’ll start with a visit to the president’s residence at Bessastaoir and the town of Hafnarfjorour, which is believed to have been the home of dwarves, elves, and other hidden people. You will also explore the town’s old fishing harbour before proceeding to Perlan for a panoramic view of the capital.
Move on to Hallgrímskirkja church, named after a national poet and clergyman. The unique design is said to resemble a lava flow, a key element of Iceland’s geography. The church took 40 years to build and is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. You’ll end the tour with a visit to Althing, the world’s oldest parliament, founded in 930.
Return to Reykjavik to spend the night at the hotel.
Today, you’ll start with a full-day tour of Reykjavik. The tour takes you to South Iceland, stopping at some of the country’s most iconic attractions. Some of the places you’ll visit include Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in an active volcanic area famous for the Althing, Iceland’s Parliament. Apparently, leaders would meet here to decide on legislation during the Viking Age.
The next stop is the majestic Gullfoss, an iconic Icelandic waterfall on the Golden Circle. We’ll have a break for lunch at Gullfoss Café before moving on to the Strokkur Geyser. The next stop is Faxi Waterfall, where you’ll watch salmon climbing upstream during the salmon season. The Skalholt Cathedral and the museum below it are the next attractions on the tour.
Return to the hotel to spend the night in the hotel room.
Today, you will embark on a whale-watching journey, sailing from Reykjavik to Faxafloi Bay. This bay is home to a variety of arctic wildlife, including whales, dolphins, puffins, gannets, and some species of gulls.
You’ll proceed to the Whale Exhibition Centre and learn more about the ocean's mysteries. The museum is converted from an old Capelin fishing vessel and offers plenty of information about whales and sea birds.
Spend the rest of the night leisurely before returning to the hotel room.
Bid adieu to the city as you catch your flight back home, or continue with the next leg of your journey.
